See the shot before you build it

Virtual Viewfinder is an augmented reality previsualization tool for film and photography teams at [[COMPANY]]. Stand in the real location, place life-size people and props on the actual ground, and look through a camera-style viewfinder to judge the frame before a single light is rigged.

Virtual Viewfinder is an internal tool. It is distributed to staff and contractors of [[COMPANY]] and to production partners working on our projects. Accounts are created by a [[COMPANY]] administrator — there is no public sign-up inside the app. If you need access, write to [[SUPPORT_EMAIL]].

What it does

  • Previsualize on location

Scan the floor, drop a scene origin, and everything you place is recorded relative to that point. Reopen the scene on a later visit and everything comes back where you left it.

  • Life-size people and props

A shared library of true-to-scale people and props, uploaded and approved by your team. Move, rotate, and group them; arrange a crowd on a grid, a line, a fan, or a circle in one step.

  • A viewfinder, not a 3D app

Pick a 4:3 or 16:9 frame, zoom, and judge the composition through an interface that behaves like the camera you will actually shoot on.

  • Stills and video to share

Capture photos and screen recordings straight to your device's photo library, so the frame you agreed on travels with the production notes.

Device requirements

iPhone 12 or newer running iOS 18 or later. The app uses ARKit and needs camera access; it does not run in the iOS Simulator. An account issued by [[COMPANY]] is required to log in.
